Incentive Point Scheme

Staff members will collect 1 point each time they swap from driving to commute on foot/bike. They’ll gain 1 extra point for every additional 5 miles. When staff reach 20 points they can claim cycling/walking-related prizes. Staff may delay collecting a prize if they wish to accumulate more points.  All staff with a serious interest will choose either a pedometer or a small cycling computer. Participating staff members will come to us weekly, we will check their device and record their progress.

We will survey participating staff at the start of the project regarding the amount of times they feel they are commuting by car/bike/on foot. After 6 and 12 months we will re-survey and analyse the changes in how often they believe they are travelling by each mode.

We will also use the 6-month report to inform staff of their progress with the intention of re-stimulating their interest, and will use the 12-month report to remind staff of how much we appreciate their efforts - with the possibility of publishing our results to the Trust magazine to encourage others
