Dr Bike Day

Proposal:

1)    To run a Dr. Bike day at the PCT for people to bring their bikes, have them checked, repaired, maintained etc.  This would include giving out safety equipment (high visibility aids, helmets etc).  It would be stipulated that this would be for people to would like to cycle to work (not to repair children’s bikes). Anecdotally we know that some people in the Trust have indicated that it is the condition of their bikes, lack of knowledge and the inconvenience of getting to a bike shop that stop people using their bikes.  We would therefore ask that the Dr. Bike session also provides information on simple repairs (punctures etc).

2) To provide appropriate visibility and safety equipment.  This would include Hi-Vis clothing and lights.

Update:

Dr. Bike was on 28th January 2011 - demand for safety equipment was greater than expected so has had to be negotiated but should be delivered by the end of June 2011
