We will be able to use the data to influence behaviour, and have positive impacts on people's health by encouraging moore sustainable travel, even by just adding some walking to a journey.

The survey will help form the baseline for measurement in future years

The Staff Travel Survey looks at how people to commute to work, inter-site travel and travel linked to work such as attending conferences.  It is for all users, all modes of transport, and also looks at "active travel" - how many minutes of active travel such as walking and cycling do people do in a week.  The idea is to collect baseline information which can then lead to prioritising certain initiatives in sustainable travel.  The last survey was conducted in 2008, but this new one is much more comprehensive.

Regulatory reasons - travel surveys are a legal requirement. We want to improve the services we provide, and improve staff's quality of life. We want to be able to plan and use resources efficiently. It is part of the Carbon Management plan - we have a CO2 reduction target.
